City Approves RSO Tracking
Today the Los Angeles City Council approved a motion that would create a system for tracking RSO units which were removed via either the Ellis Act or that became tennants-in-common units. While it remains to be seen if landlords will play any role in the reporting and monitoring system beyond their current role in the RSO, the move will likely provide more insight into the vacancy of residential units in Los Angeles. It could ultimately result in stricter controls on landlords attempting to vacate units via the Ellis Act if they fail to follow the proper procedures.
