Case Study: Aviation

The Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) currently operates three major airports in the Los Angeles area: Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Ontario International Airport (ONT) and Van Nuys Airport (VNY). The firm of Bob Burke & Company (BB&C) has had significant interaction with the General Management of LAWA as well as with the Board of Airport Commissioners in several significant matters ranging from RFP development on Airport Concession contracts to obtaining new landing gates for start-up carriers.

Additionally, Southern California as well as the entire State of California is served by several significant regional airports, namely Burbank Bob Hope Airport and Long Beach International Airport. These latter facilities are important supplemental and substantial hubs in their own right. BB&C has assisted the first start up airline in California in over 30 years, to begin service out of Burbank and Hawthorn airports, to local airports in Santa Barbara, Las Vegas, and the Bay Area and Tahoe area. Working with BB&C’s assistance, contact in Burbank and other Sacramento-based advice was provided to the founders of the Company.

Burke has further provided consultancy and governmental advocacy services to local and transnational airport concessionaire firms such as Concessions International and Areas USA.
